Back To Gunfighting In The Saloon?

The Arizona Senate has given final approval to a bill that would allow people with concealed weapons permits to carry a gun into a business that serves alcohol.

There's obviously a lot of controversy surrounding this move. Supporters say they should be able to protect themselves and their families even if they happen to be inside a business serving alcohol.

Forty other states have approved similar measures, according to the National Rifle Association.

I'm all for law abiding citizens being permitted to carry their guns. I think in most cases this is absolutely how it should be but I have seen what happens to normally rational people when alcohol is involved. I don't agree with this one. Instead it think it would be a far better idea (and far safer) to require that somebody be at the door with metal detectors to ensure that no guns get into any bars. Restaurants should be a totally different story and that distinction isn't difficult to make.
