Human Rights Group Doesn't Like Italy's Policy on Migrants

I grabbed this one over at Europe News

The bilateral policy that took effect in May "is an open violation of Italy’s legal obligation not to commit... the forced return of people to places where their lives or freedom would be threatened or where they would face a risk of torture or inhuman and degrading treatment," the report said.

Rome -- Human Rights Watch Monday criticised Italy's new policy of returning boat people to Libya -- where they may face "brutal treatment" -- without giving them a chance to apply for asylum in Europe.

"Italy intercepts African boat migrants and asylum seekers, fails to screen them for refugee status or other vulnerabilities, and forcibly returns them to Libya, where many are detained in inhuman and degrading conditions and abused," the rights watchdog said in a report.

"The reality is that Italy is sending people back to abuse," wrote HRW's refugee policy director Bill Frelick, author of the 92-page report.

"Migrants who had been detained in Libya consistently spoke of brutal treatment and overcrowded and unsanitary conditions," he added.

Human rights groups... HA! What a joke, they're nothing more than communist whiners who won't be happy until there's shit on everybody's dinner plate. Why should Italy let them in, they aren't their citizens they have the right to do what they want with the immigration policies in their country (subject to change as they see fit). The migrants religion is likely the exact thing that is causing the "torture, inhuman and degrading treatment, and threatening their freedom." If they want to leave that at the door it would be one thing but I'm sure they don't. I wouldn't let somebody with the plague into my house either. I hope Italy tells them to fuck off and continues shipping them right back to the shit-hole their belief systems helped to create. Fix your own house if the roof leaks, don't expect refuge in ours when it rains, just because you left a hole in the roof.

Sadly I do believe it. I follow international news because I know what starts there will eventually make it's way here.
