In Saudi Arabia you have so much freedom that next time some redneck American this is the best country in the world you can tell him. "Yes you're pretty free but can you get married to a toddler" and he will be jealous. Our brilliant sand dwelling amigos have no problem with it, I personally don't see what is the appeal of having a "wife" who also needs to have her diapers changed, but to each his own you know? Anyhow, here's the actual story slightly modified by myself to make the point without the ramble.
An 8-year-old Saudi girl was forced by her father into a marriage with a 50-year-old man for a $13,000 bride price.
Saudi Arabia has come under criticism at home and abroad for permitting child marriages. The United States, a close ally of the conservative Muslim kingdom, has called child marriage a "clear and unacceptable" violation of human rights.
So the Saudi's look at fair trade differently than we do. WE BE HATIN'! Be culturally sensitive America. After all, the girl was allowed to divorce the man who was probably ok with it not having to babysit after he got his Pedo on.
Originally a court rejected a request by the girl's mother for a divorce and ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached puberty to file a petition then.
There are no laws in Saudi Arabia defining the minimum age for marriage. Though a woman's consent is legally required, some marriage officials don't seek it.
Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or young boys including a 15-year-old girl whose father, a death-row inmate, married her off to a cell mate.
Saudi Arabia's conservative Muslim clergy have opposed the drive to end child marriages. In January, the kingdom's most senior cleric said it was permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry and those who believe they are too young are doing the girls an injustice.
You must keep in mind that Islam is a great, fair, and just religion. They are peaceful and wise, it is a good religion even if they do lay the pipe to little girls now and then.
There are no statistics to show how many marriages involving children are performed in Saudi Arabia every year. Activists say the girls are given away in return for hefty marriage gifts or as a result of long-standing custom in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.
That is brilliant, how could that not work? There is simply no way that could fail! Islam is such an awesome religion, we should all take up. We could fuck camels, and hit people with swords, and bone the children, chuck rocks at women who's hair shows. We could stop bathing and center our day around washing our feet only and praying and praying until our knees bleed. We could spew hatred about the evil Zionist Jews. We can live on mud hovels and sleep on dirt floors and wipe our asses with our non-eating hand. Oh the grand time to be had.
