Apparently not in the United Socialist States of America. An Arlington woman hung an American flag in her office just before the Memorial Day weekend and was told to remove it.
Debbie McLucas is one of four hospital supervisors at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Last week, she hung a three-by-five foot American flag in the office she shares with the other supervisors. When McLucas came to work Friday, her boss told her another supervisor had found her flag offensive.
The supervisor who complained has been in the United States for 14 years and is formerly from Africa. That supervisor actually took down the flag herself and placed them on the floor. The hospital higher-ups had told also told McLucas that some patients' families and visitors had also complained. "I was told it wouldn't matter if it was only one person," she said. "It would have to come down."
After not returning the calls to the news sources for a good while, which I'm sure was because they realized the verbal lashing they were going to receive, the hospital eventually came back with a retort "The disagreement was over the size of the flag and not what it symbolized. We have invited the employee to put the flag back up." When she was first told the flag had to go, nobody mentioned anything about its size being the root of the problem.
That's because they had to have time to think up the size excuse which is still pretty fucking sad. This is something that is worth of a black eye. I'm definitely not a perpetual flag waver, and I have a lot of problems with this country I'll admit. When it comes to the flag though I respect what it stands for and I respect those who fight and those who have died to keep it that way. It's one thing to be proud of your heritage whether it be American or African, French, or Russian, but if you move from Africa to America you damn well better shut your fucking mouth when patriotism is displayed for the country you're residing in!
To our African friend... if you love your own country so much, if you're so offended by our flag, go the fuck back to that aids infested shithole of a continent from which you came. We have plenty of people here who would happily take your job and your privileges at the expense of looking at that flag you find so offensive.
As for the patients who didn't like the flag... I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet to say they're also not from this country because it wasn't Berkley California where this happened. If our flag isn't good enough for you, then neither is our health care. Either put up with the flag and shut up about it or get out of our hospital and go fend for yourself.
I never cease to be amazed at the complete and utter stupidity that pollutes society.
